How to find the best wireless headphones for your kids?

Wondering what to look for in a headphone for your 11-year-old kid?

Headphones for adults and headphones for kids have different needs. As an adult, you are more prone to want music as real as it could be. As a kid, you are probably looking for an enhanced better feel. And more importantly, as a kid, you would be looking for something that doesn’t just sound great but looks great too.

How do you find all that for your 11-year-old kid?

There’s only so many times that one can hear the title track of Spongebob Squarepants or the poems about the bus. It is, therefore, always lovely to give your child a pair of headphones and let them have fun playing their rhymes for the 10th time while you finish watching your show.

A pair of headphones is also convenient when it comes to traveling, as the ones on the plane are neither safe for the children nor do they fit them.

Headphones for adults and headphonesA good pair of headphones for your kid also allows them to stay calm in areas with a lot of noise as most of the models come with a noise reduction feature. If you think whether to buy your kid a pair of headphones or not, here’s everything you need to know about them.

The Top Things to Look for in a Headphone for Your 11 Year Old Kid?

  • Is it comfortable? If it isn’t, it’s not going to stay put with your 11-year-old kid.
  • Should you go in for a wired or wireless option? The wired headphones come with an audio jack of 3.5 mm at the end of a string attached to one of the ear cups. More importantly, your child may not like all those wires.
  • How easy is it to pair with other devices? While headphones can be paired with most of the audio devices with the help of the audio jack, they may have some compatibility issues.
  • Should you go for a wireless option? The problem here isn’t just with the sound quality – most wired options sound a little better – it could be easy to lose too.
  • How good is the sound quality? You’ve to decide whether your kid wants total noise cancellation or wants to be aware of what’s happening around him. Answering that will help you zero in on the headphone you need.

How to find the best wireless headphones for your kids?

First of all, it is essential to understand the purpose of the headphones. Figure out you need the headphones for as it helps you narrow down your choices better.

For example, if you’re looking for travel-friendly headphones, you must go for ones with small ear cups and the ones that fold in easily. If you go out with your kids a lot, you can stress more on the noise cancellation ability of the headphones.

Step 1- Make sure they’re designed for children:

The headphones designed for children have a maximum decibel level so that the kids aren’t exposed to loud noises or heavy volume that can damage their ears. As a result, they cannot be given any headphones designed for adults, as they can be both uncomfortable and can hurt the ears.

Step 2- Be sure of the fit and the comfort:

The sizing of the headphones for kids varies as they grow up. Thus, make sure they fit well and do not keep slipping off their head. This will only disrupt their activity and further irritate them. Apart from that, the headphones must be comfortable enough to be worn for hours at end.

Step 3- Go for a pretty design:

Kids generally love bright and colourful themes. Thus, their headphones must be of bright colours. Many brands also offer different designs featuring googly eyes or muppet faces to make it more interesting for the kids to wear.

Step 4- Be sure of the safety:

The material used in many headphones is metal, which can hurt the kids in case of damage or breaking. Therefore, opt for polymers that are strong but also safe for the kids.

Step 5- Do they feature noise cancellation?:

All the headphones usually offer some amount of noise cancellation. If your kids are in the areas of loud noises most of the times, get the kind whose noise reduction rating is between 22 and 27. This immunes the kids from loud noises but also allows them to hear everything near them quite clearly.

Step 6 – Is the decibel limit fine?

Many doctors recommend not to use the headphones for more than two hours. In fact, a lot of them tell the parents to avoid the headphones as much as possible not to expose the kids to dangerously loud volumes. Thus, make sure that the headphones have a maximum decibel limit which is safe for the kids. You really can’t trust your 11-year-old kid to not listen to loud music when he can – but doing so can permanently damage his ears. Save yourself the hours of worries and supervision and buy one that isn’t as loud.

Kids Headphones

Final Thoughts

Deciding whether your kids need headphones can be challenging at times, but it always serves as the best given the number of uses it has. You can have them hear their poems while you watch your show, they can help with entertainment while travelling, and also be used for cancelling loud noises at an event.
Wireless headphones always turn out to be more handy and travel-friendly as compared to the wired ones. They’re also compatible with a more significant number of devices in general.
